Tickets go on sale today at the National Stadium ticket office for this weekend’s Gibson McCook Relays.
Tickets are $5,000 for finish line seats, while the other grandstand seats are $3,500; bleachers tickets are $500 for the Saturday, February 25 event.
Dr Marion Bullock Ducasse, GMR 2023 Director, watches as Prof Rainford Wilks and Milton Walker sign an 8-year deal for broadcasting the event.
The event in its 50th year of existence will see 2,100 track and athletes participate in 43 events catering to the widest age group of performers from prep schools to masters.
The 12 hours extravaganza, back to its original schedule, has included the 60 meters sprint for male and female elite athletes with a special attraction.
Dr the Hon Usain Bolt is the Patron for this year’s staging. Ray Harvey is the Meet Director.
Puma is the presenting sponsor; while other main sponsors come from TVJ, Hitz 92 FM, Digicel, Wisynco (WATA and Powerade), Ministry of Sports, the Sports Development Foundation, the North American, Central AMerican and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC).
Prof Rainford Wilks, Chairman for the LOC, says “the day will be exciting on and off the track, so patrons can expect to be fully entertained.” With the Boys and Girls Athletic Championships, just over a month away, the relays are serving as a qualifier.
The first event is set for 9am.
