Fresh off his latest tour circuit, Blvk H3ro (pronounced ‘Black Hero’) is gearing up to take the stage across Africa, Europe, and North America, further cementing his place in the global reggae movement. With an upcoming EP featuring meditative music and several collaborations in the works, the Live In Love artiste is set to embark on his highly anticipated world tour, kicking off on March 29 in the United Kingdom. Earlier this month, he received his sixth nomination for the International Reggae & World Music Awards (IRAWMA) in the Dennis Brown Award for Most Promising Entertainer category. Beyond music, the conscious and cultural singer is also passionate about gaming and plans to start streaming soon – so gamers, stay tuned! The Gleaner caught up with the rising artiste, who also has ambitions in fashion and aims to create globally dynamic music by fusing reggae with diverse influences, in this week’s 5 Questions With...

1 You’re about to embark on a major world tour. What excites you most about this journey?

People still waa see we pon stage! This tour is special because it’s truly global. We’re touching London, Africa – including Ghana, Gambia, Senegal, Cape Town, and Ivory Coast – then heading to the US for major festivals like Reggae on the River. It’s about connecting with fans and spreading the energy worldwide.

2 You’ve performed all over the world. What has been your favourite place to tour so far?

So far, California is a world within itself. You can do over 40 shows without even leaving the state! The fans there are fanatics – when they love something, they really love it. They buy the merch, the vinyl, the CDs, everything. The whole world has passionate fans, but Cali is different. They live for the music.

3 Your upcoming ‘Winner Capsule’ EP is on the way. What inspired this project?

Winner Capsule is a four-track EP, but I call it a ‘capsule’ because it’s medicine – it’s meditational music. The first single, Push On, is already out, and the full EP drops April 22. The message? No matter what happens, we can push on. Only from the ashes can a phoenix rise.

4 You’re known for your unique style, and your crochet hats are a fan favourite. Any plans in fashion?

Everywhere I go people ask about the crochet hats! So, we’re officially launching them plus shirts for the tour. I’m also collaborating with brands locally and internationally. We keep things low-key, but we’re definitely keeping a foot in the fashion world.

5 You recently dropped ‘Shine Ya Light’, blending reggae with amapiano influences. How do you see your sound evolving?

The evolution of global dance music is exciting, and Jamaica has always been a key ingredient in that mix, from the invention of electronic dance music in Waterhouse by our homegrown musical innovators! Shine Ya Light is a fusion of Jamaican dancehall roots with Amapiano, a South African dance music genre and other rich musical cultures. The goal is to create a universal sound that feels fresh, global, and timeless!
