National 100 metre hurdles champion and national record holder, Ackera Nugent, has become the second Jamaican to be crowned a Grand Slam champion in the latest global athletics meet.
The 23-year-old collected close to JM$16 million over the weekend, competing at the second stop of the four-meet series in Miami.
Nugent finished third in her pet event, in 12.34 seconds before winning the 100m in 11.09 seconds for a grand total of 18 points in the short hurdles.

Another Jamaican, Megan Tapper, who finished fifth in the hurdles and second in the 100m, collected nearly JM$5 million for her weekend’s work.
Meanwhile, Oblique Seville left Miami with nearly JM$8 million for finishing second in the men’s short sprints after placing second in both sprints for 16 points.
Andrenette Knight is also JM$8 million richer for placing second in the women’s 400m and third in the 400m hurdles.
Kenny Bednarek and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone won their second straight Grand Slam titles in the men’s short sprint and women’s long hurdles respectively.
The third stop in the series will be in Philadelphia May 30 to June 1.
