Jamaica’s management team in Paris has filed a second protest on behalf of Natoya Goule-Toppin.
Goule-Toppin was bumped with just over 100m to go in her 800m semi-final. After the bump on the inside of the track, Goule faded to finish sixth in a time of 1.:59.14.
Jamaican officials reportedly approached the race referee arguing that the bump on Goule-Toppin breached race rules. The Jamaican team presented the officials with the official rule book to argue their case.
However, the referee reportedly rejected the Jamaican’s reasoning, sticking with their initial decision.
This has forced Jamaican officials to file a second protest. Goule-Toppin will now wait on a decision on her 800m finals participation.
