St Lucia’s sprint star, Julien Alfred, continues to captivate both local and international audiences following her historic performance at the Paris Olympics.

Alfred won the country’s first two medals since St. Lucia started competed at the Olympics in 1996. The 23-year-old won gold in the women’s 100-metres and a silver in the 200-metres.

Her victory has elevated her to national hero status, sparking debates as to how best to honour her achievements.

The country’s Prime Minister Philip J Pierre, has already announced that they’ll declare a national holiday in her honour.
