Sports analyst, Leighton Levy, says he was not surprised that Elaine Thompson-Herah will not compete at the Paris Olympics.
Thompson-Herah was looking to become the first female and only the second individual behind Usain Bolt to win the 100 metre/200 metre double at three straight Olympic Games.
The double Olympic champion had already pulled out of the 200 metres at the four-day National Championships, starting today. However, she was entered for the 100 metres.
A release from her management company Andi Sports Management says Thompson-Herah will not be able to defend her Olympic titles and they wish her the best going forward.
Thompson-Herah was last at the New York Grand Prix this month and had to be taken off the track the 100 metres.
Levy says judging from her recent performance it was always a doubt that she’ll be able to compete at the championships.
Levy says her absence will not have a major impact on the relay pool.
