Baby Cham confident Madhouse will win Red Bull Culture Clash

Baby Cham, Jamaican singer-songwriter from Madhouse Experience, says his crew is ready to win the return of the Red Bull Culture Clash 2024, which takes place on November 2 at the National Arena.

“The whole Culture Clash is representing dancehall and reggae music and Jamaican culture, and when you get those type of calls, you always have to say yes, especially when you are kind of looking at the bigger picture. Keeping the doors open for the next generation and paving the way and making sure that we can keep the music and the culture alive and clashing is part of the culture,” Baby Cham, currently signed to Atlantic Records, said.

“It’s one of those things where we didn’t even have to think too long on it. We were ready,” he said.

Baby Cham, mostly known for his 2006 single Ghetto Story from his major label debut album of the same name, also noted that “it’s clear” that Madhouse Experience will emerge champions on that upcoming Saturday night.

“When you a talk bout Madhouse... you a talk bout the kid from day one. You know waa I mean. Sometimes you have to just show people what you can do, what you’re made of. Madhouse is not just a sound system, but Madhouse produces the biggest records,” Baby Cham said before singing a line from his hit single Bad Mind.

He made this statement after being the first questioned and called on the stage during the launch of the Red Bull Culture Clash on Wednesday at the ROK Hotel in downtown Kingston.

Although the Culture Clash will be held with four crews and four stages, there will only be one winner at the end of the night.

The contestants include Madhouse Experience with Baby Cham, Collin ‘The Captain’ Hines, CopperShaun, Game Changaz Stainy, and Brandon; Lon Don Crew with Stefflon Don, DJ Mac, Fada Shella, Slap Weh, Wayne Ed, Junior Killa and Shaka; Big Bad Soca with Voice The Artiste, Bobby Killa, Mun-Ra, Salty, Akeem 5.0, Travis World, Major Penny and DJ Elon; and Jamaica Wi Seh with DJ Frass, The Original TC, DJ Banka, ZJ Chrome, and Chris Dymond.

For his counterpart, Colin Hines, the Madhouse Experience will bring a mix of history and quality to the Red Bull Culture Clash.

“Madhouse is a serious brand. Madhouse has hits and Madhouse has crazy talent, and Madhouse a mad people. When mad people gather, mad things gwaan,” he said.

At the launch event, the Lon Don Crew committed to “bun dung Madhouse” while the Big Bad Soca crew was absent.

Inspired by Jamaican sound system culture, Red Bull Culture Clash features head-to-head performances from four crews. Each crew takes over their own stage in a corner of the venue and faces off in a four-round battle, bringing heavy tunes, unreleased tracks, fierce competition, and an exciting roster of special guests and surprises, all to outshine the competition and win over the crowd.

Red Bull Culture Clash is renowned for its unique format, where the crowd’s reaction is measured through a decibel reader, with the highest average during the first five seconds determining the winner of each round.

According to Donna Hussey, corporate relations manager at Main Event Entertainment Group Ltd, the return of the event, last held in 2019, will bring back the high energy this year. As the 360-degree production partners, they are excited about its comeback.

“This, of course, is a match made in heaven ... . This event is so important to us. We’re so proud to be partners of this Red Bull Culture Clash, which is back here again in Jamaica, the home of clash culture .Of course, this was a no-brainer for us to jump on when we got this unique opportunity,” Hussey said.
