Bailey: Thompson-Herah’s Absence Gives Others a Chance to Secure Olympics Spot

1996 men’s 100-metres Olympic champion, Donovan Bailey, says the absence of Elaine Thompson-Herah at the National Championships presents an opportunity for one of the upcoming sprinters to secure a individual lane in Paris.

Thompson-Herah will not be competing at the Championships due to an injury.

The women’s 100-metres begins with the preliminary round this evening at 7:50.

Speaking on his podcast, Bailey Running things, Bailey says it will be difficult to predict who will step up and secure that third spot.

He says Oblique Seville, Akeem Blake and Kishane Thompson are favourites to take the three individual spots for the men’s 100-metres.
