Simone Biles inspired the United States to victory in the women’s team gymnastics event, while Britain’s Nathan Hales won Team GB’s third gold of the 2024 Paris Olympics in the men’s shooting on day four.
American superstar Biles led her team to victory and her first gold medal since Rio 2016 after pulling out of several events at Tokyo 2020 three years ago with the ‘twisties’ – a disorientating mental block.
Hales secured Great Britain’s first medal of the day as he triumphed in the men’s trap final, setting a Games record in the process.
The 28-year-old, on his Olympics debut, shot 48 out of 50 to hold his nerve and claim Team GB’s third gold of Paris 2024.
