The Bank of Jamaica, BOJ, says its working closely with financial institutions to ensure the restoration of normal banking services in the shortest possible time.
However, it says the absence of utilities across the island, the unavailability of staff due to the dislocation rising from the effects of Hurricane Beryl and the inability of the service provider to access a number of ABM, will adversely affect the speed at which normalcy is restored.
The BOJ says the challenges are particularly acute in the rural areas, notably in the western parishes.
The payment systems operated by BOJ, which facilitate the electronic settlement of transactions, are fully operational.
It says a number of banks have started to provide limited in-branch services and are endeavouring to provide ABM services as widely as possible at this time.
Additionally, the Central Bank is advising that the online and customer support services for all banks are operational.
