Sprint legend, Usain Bolt, backs Jamaica’s Oblique Seville, American Gymnast Simone Biles and the American basketball team to be among the medallists at the Paris Olympics.
Seville is set to contest the men’s 100 metres and 4-by-100-metres in Paris.
Seville, who trains with Bolt’s former coach, Glenn Mills, finished second at the Jamaica championships in the men’s 100-metres in 9-point-82 seconds.
The 23-year-old reached the semi-final of the men’s 100-metres at the Tokyo Olympics.
He finished 4th at the Eugene and Budapest World Championships.
Seville’s only global medal was a bronze in the men’s 4-by-100-metres relay from the 2023 World Championships.
Bolt believes this is the former Calabar High standout’s time to stand on the medal podium in an individual event.
Biles is making her third trip to the Olympic Games, looking to add to her seven total Olympic medals won at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.
She will compete for the first time in Paris in the women’s qualifying, on July 28.
Three years ago at the Tokyo Games, Biles withdrew from the women’s team final and four subsequent individual finals to prioritise her mental health as she dealt with a case of the ‘twisties,’ where a gymnast’s body and mind fall out of sync.
For the 27-year-old, who owns four Olympic titles and 23 World crowns, Bolt says Paris offers a chance at redemption.
Bolt believes Noah Lyles’ comment will serve as motivation for the American Basketball team to win gold.
