Broadbell Gives Jamaica Its 6th Medal

After 14 days of competition, Jamaica sits at 32 on the medals table at the Paris Olympics.

The country has 6 medals, a gold, 3-silver and 2-bronze.

Jamaica picked up its sixth medals of the Games when national champion Rasheed Broadbell ran a season’s best 13-point-09 seconds to finish third in the men’s 110-metres hurdles.

The other two Jamaicans Orlando Bennett and Hansle Parchment finished 7th and 8th respectively.

The event was won be the American Grant Holloway in 12.99 seconds, with his countryman Daniel Roberts second in 13.09 seconds.

Broadbell says he was aiming for the top step on the podium.

He says his father is his biggest supporter.

Meanwhile, Jamaica’s Rushell Clayton finished 5th in 52.68 and Shiann Salmon 6th in 53.29 seconds in the women’s 400-metres hurdles.

American Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone won in a world record 50.37 seconds.

Jamaica’s Ackelia Smith finished 8th in the women’s long jump with a best jump of 6-point-66 metres.

Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo won the men’s 200-metres in an Area record 19-point-46 seconds.

He finished ahead of the American pair of Kenneth Bednarek 19-point-62 and Noah Lyles 19-point-70.
