Greetings roadies!
Within the scope of the Jamaican coffee market and Jamaican coffee shops, the landscape has been shifting exponentially over the last few years. With creative and freelance industries growing millennials and gen-z-ers are always looking for unconventional places to do work away from home. With this need, the rise of the coffee shop has been profound.
For many years, Cafe Blue was the pinnacle of the Jamaican coffee shop. In recent years we have seen fierce competition in the market from many newcomers, but Cafe Blue has remained a local favourite up to this day.
I love coffee. I don’t drink it a lot, but I can say I love the smell and the taste. I have always been a big fan of Cafe Blue because not only is the coffee great, but they have always stayed true to brand Jamaica. Recently, I was invited to take part in Cafe Blue’s inaugural Amateur Barista competition. It was an absolutely phenomenal experience, not only because I learned so much new things about the process of making coffee, but because I learned even more about the company itself and their dedication to Jamaican blue mountain coffee.
In this competition I found myself going up against the food boss; blogger, podcaster, and photographer Tiana Chung aka Wongagyal, as well as the real Top Girl; dancer, singer and songwriter Amanyea. The competition was fun and I know we all enjoyed ourselves! You can view all the episodes right here, as well as a photo gallery from the finals! More vibes coming to DownDiRoad soon.
