The Caribbean Policy Research Institute, CAPRI, has recommended that the government raise the income tax threshold to $2.5 million.

Executive Director of CAPRI, Dr. Damien King, says this would correct the existing disadvantages created by the tax.

Dr. King was speaking at CAPRI’s Budget Breakdown even held on Thursday evening.

In his analysis of the government’s revenue and expenditure proposal, he hailed the Holness Administration for reducing the national debt.

Meanwhile, Dr. King says the country will have achieved a huge milestone if the government meets its target of reducing the debt-to-GDP ratio to 64 per cent by the end of this fiscal year.
