The Caribbean Development Bank, CDB, has pledged its support in assisting nations in the region impacted by the passage of Hurricane Beryl.

In a statement on Tuesday, the CDB says it’s deeply saddened by the damage and devastation experienced by several territories due to the passing storm.

It says the widespread damage underscores the extreme vulnerability of the region and highlights the increasing threat posed by climate change.

The bank says it’s resolute in its commitment to supporting the affected territories.

The CDB says its team is actively coordinating a comprehensive, multi-tiered response to meet immediate, medium, and long-term needs.

By way of immediate action, CDB says it is providing its customary support for the Regional Response Mechanism to be spearheaded by the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency, CDEMA.

This includes mobilisation and coordination of disaster relief to get necessities, resources and assistance to the affected areas as quickly as possible.
