Gold Dust, a 2010 British Top 40 hit song by DJ Fresh featuring dancehall artiste Ce’Cile, has been certified triple platinum in the UK.
Last Friday, the British Phonographic Industry, awarded the song a Brit certification for sales and streaming exceeding 1.8 million units.
“This is just so cool. It just helps me to remember to do music and just continue to work hard,” Ce’Cile told Observer Online on Monday.
She shared how the collaboration with DJ Fresh came about.
“I have to say big up to DJ Fresh for sending me that track. He felt it would match my sound, and I did it,” she said.
The first release of Gold Dust in 2008 featured vocals from British singer Ms Dynamite, but another version with Ce’Cile was released two years later. This version, which was the third single on DJ Fresh’s second studio album, Kryptonite, climbed to number 22 on the United Kingdom Top 100 chart. The song also charted at number 39 in Ireland.
DJ Fresh, born Daniel Edward Stein, has eight top 10 hit songs in the UK. They include Hot Right Now featuring Rita Ora and Louder featuring Sian Evans, which were both number one singles. Globally, DJ Fresh has sold more than three million singles.
Ce’Cile, who exploded onto the music scene in 2000 with her chart-topping single Changez, is also known for the hit songs I’m Waiting, the European club hit Hot Like We, When You’re Gone, Don’t Let Me Cheat on My Boyfriend and Can You Do the Wuk with Sean Paul.
