General Secretary of the Jamaica Labour Party, JLP, Dr. Horace Chang says recent changes to the party’s executive was made to strengthen its machinery ahead of the general elections, constitutionally due in 2025.

Senator Charles Sinclair and former mayor of Kingston, Delroy Williams, are set to take office as deputy general secretaries. They replace Homer Davis and Audley Gordon.

Member of Parliament for West Portland, Daryl Vaz is the party’s new treasurer. He replaces Industry Minister Aubyn Hill, who will now be the party’s point man for quality control and constituency organisation.

The changes were made following a meeting at its Belmont Road, St. Andrew headquarters on Sunday.

Dr. Chang says the reshuffling will streamline the party’s secretariat.

Dr. Chang says despite losing control of the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation, he retains confidence in former mayor of Kingston, Delroy Williams.

Meanwhile, Dr. Chang notes that internal discussions will be held with party leader, Prime Minister Andrew Holness concerning the replacement of seniors parliamentarians over the age of 70.
