Chuck Rejects PNP Calls for His Resignation

Justice minister, Delroy Chuck, is rejecting a call from the Opposition People’s National Party, PNP, for his resignation.

This follows his comments during last Tuesday’s parliamentary sitting, seemingly advising parliamentarians against disclosing the salaries of their spouses or children to the Integrity Commission.

Minister Chuck apologised for his phrasing.

The controversial comment is a direct breach of the Integrity Commission Act.

According to the PNP, any failure by the government to act, will be seen as a tacit endorsement of lawless behaviour and an admission that the JLP prioritises political survival over the rule of law.

Minister Chuck is seeking to clarify his comment.
