There’s been a decline in consumer and business confidence for the second quarter of 2024. That’s according to the latest survey of business and consumer confidence.
The survey was conducted by the Don Anderson led Market Research Services Limited between April and June this year.
Daina Davy reports.
The findings of the survey were presented by Don Anderson at a virtual forum held by the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday.
Mr. Anderson noted that issues with job prospects significantly contributed to the decline in optimism among consumers.
The survey also revealed that business confidence is on the decline.
According to Mr. Anderson, business owners have expressed a negative outlook about the country’s economic prospects.
And a majority of consumers in Jamaica believe increased access to jobs for young people across the island could reduce crime.
Anderson says the recent survey of business and consumer confidence showed a low level of confidence in the police.
