Councillor Winston Maragh Injured in Skirmish at ALGA-J Meeting

Nationwide News understands councillor of the Rocky Point division in South East Clarendon, Winston Maragh, is seeking medical attention after being injured in a skirmish at the Golf View Hotel in Mandeville earlier on Friday.

The incident reportedly occurred during a meeting of the Association of Local Government Authorities of Jamaica, ALGA-J.

Maragh is the current president of the association. ALGA-J was set to vote for a new president and vice-presidents.

Our sources say there was disagreement over a motion to move the voting forward on the agenda.

Members of the People’s National Party reportedly objected, but the motion carried.

The party members allegedly snatched the ballot box and grabbed the mic from Maragh.

The meeting was prematurely adjourned as a result.
