Opposition senator Damion Crawford has accused the Holness administration of keeping the majority of Jamaicans poor and downtrodden.
The senator made the accusation while addressing comrades in South East St. Elizabeth on Sunday.
He took particular aim at several of the signature policies of the administration while vowing to deny the prime minister a third term in government.
Nora Gaye Banton reports.
A song as much as a warning.
Senator Damion Crawford described the leadership of the Holness administration as a system that must be defeated at the next general elections.
According to him, that system keeps too many Jamaicans in poverty.
The opposition senator, who serves as spokesman on education in Mark Golding’s shadow cabinet, singled out specific policies of the government for particular criticism.
First, he criticised the social housing policy.
Crawford then took aim at the government’s LIFT initiative for young people.
The senator urged the PNP faithful to put in the work to ensure Holness is denied a third term in office.
Mayor of Spanish Town Norman Scott was later announced as the party’s caretaker for South East St. Elizabeth.
