PNP caretaker for North West St. Catherine, Senator Damion Crawford, has come to the defence of Auditor General Pamela Munroe Ellis, after Prime Minister Andrew Holness blasted her recent report dealing with his signature Social Housing Programme.

Mrs. Munroe Ellis flagged the programme, arguing it was duplicating existing efforts and was in need of reform.

Prime Minister Holness dismissed the report and appeared to accuse the Auditor General of ignorance and incompetence.

But Senator Crawford says the Prime Minister is the one who has been incompetent.

The Social Housing Programme aims to provide well-built housing for the poorest Jamaicans.

It is administered under the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation.

Holness says his government intends to build at least 6-thousand houses under the programme.

But Senator Crawford says the housing programme is a failure.
