St. Mary has unearthed yet another talented dancehall deejay. Hailing from Annotto Bay St Mary, Currenci87 is quickly climbing the musical ladder following the release of his buzzing new single entitled “Road A Swing” which is becoming a street anthem locally and internationally. The song, which has been dubbed a summer banger by many musical pundits, has raised the profile of the melodic artiste. However, according to Currenci87, he does not want his song to have the “summer song” label because he views it as a timeless piece of art that can play all year round.
“Road A Swing is a feel good song and naturally because it is summer some people will view it as a summer song but it is more than a seasonal song because it can fit into any time of the year so please label it is a bad song or a party song instead of limiting its potential growth by putting a time on it. I want my fans to instead view it as a song for all seasons” Currenci87 explained.
Born Demoy Forbes, the Annotto Bay St. Mary native grew up listening to the sounds of Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Capleton and Sizzla. Fast forward to 2024, Currenci87 is very close to achieving his musical goal of becoming a household name.
“My journey has not been an easy one but I would not change any aspect of it because it has molded me into a better artiste and a better person and I am now ready to truly unlock my greatness. My brand is growing tremendously and I feel very encouraged to keep on putting out good music” stated Currenci87.
Currently, Currenci87 is busy in the studio working with Andrew Hewitt Productions, Reel J Records, as well as several other top-flight producers.
