Dawes Accuses CHASE Fund of Ignoring Requests from Bustamante Hospital Staff

Opposition spokesperson on health and wellness, Dr. Alfred Dawes, is accusing the CHASE Fund of ignoring requests by staff at Bustamante Hospital for Children.

In a statement issued on Monday, Dr Dawes alleges hospital staff made key issues known to the CHASE Fund from as far back as January 2022.

It is the latest in a string of accusations involving the Ministry of Health, the hospital and the fund.

Dawes’ comment follows a response from the CHASE Fund in relation to previous comments made at a media conference last month.

Then, Dr. Dawes stated that money from the CHASE Fund was available to fix the faulty air conditioning units in the hospital’s operating theatres.

The CHASE Fund responded, stating that it was only in receipt of a May 2024 application from the hospital to renovate the operating theatres.

It says the application is being evaluated for consideration, subject to the availability of funds.

But Dawes claims the fund failed to respond to the letter, and has also not responded to his claims.
