People’s National Party, PNP, general secretary, Dr. Dayton Campbell, has confirmed that the party leadership had entered negotiations with ousted caretaker for Central Kingston, Lawrence Rowe, in exchange for removing him from the seat.

He was speaking on RJR’s programme Hotline with Emily Shields on Friday.

Rowe was ousted as caretaker on Sunday. He was replaced on Wednesday by former senior superintendent of police, Steve McGregor.

Rowe says in exchange for him accepting the decision without fuss, Party Leader Mark Golding made several promises to him.

Dr. Campbell confirmed that Rowe was told that two of those promises would be considered.

Rowe says he has both written and audio evidence to prove his allegations. But, Dr. Campbell denied offering Rowe $15 million in resources.

He says Rowe instead explained that the money was spent in the constituency and that he wished to be reimbursed.

Meanwhile, Dr. Campbell says he met with Mr. Rowe four days after he was notified of the decision to remove him as PNP caretaker for Central Kingston.

According to Dr. Campbell, the party seriously considered Steve McGregor as the constituency’s caretaker after removing Rowe.
