Reigning Olympic 100-metres champion Marcell Jacobs of Italy is backing himself to retain the title at the Paris Games.
The Men’s 100-metres begins on August 3, in Paris.
The Italian stunned the field to snatch gold in the Covid-delayed Tokyo Olympics, in an European record of 9-point-80 seconds.
He made it double gold just days later by helping Italy to victory in the 4-by-100 metres relay.
Jacobs says he wants to lay to rest arguments that his victory was pure luck.
Meanwhile, Jacobs admits that several sprinters have run faster than him this season.
But he’s not intimidated by what happens outside the Olympics.

Meanwhile, defending Olympics 200-metres champion, Andre De Grasse, is confident he’ll be able to defend his title.
American Noah Lyles is favoured to win in the event in the French capital.
But De Grasse says he’s not daunted by anyone’s favourite tag.
