Deputy general secretary of the Jamaica Labour Party, JLP, Senator Delroy Williams, has confirmed that he has applied to represent the party in Central Clarendon at the next general election.
According to Senator Williams, he has no doubt in his ability to contribute positively to Central Clarendon as member of parliament.
Senator Williams currently serves as deputy mayor of Kingston and councillor for the Seiveright Gardens division in West Central St. Andrew.
Henry, who’s 89-years-old, had endorsed mayor of May Pen, Joel Williams, to be his successor in Central Clarendon.
Delroy Williams’ application comes as the ruling party is reportedly in the final phase of settling the list of standard-bearers ahead of the next general election, which is constitutionally due in September this year.
And Senator Williams says he has deep regard for Mike Henry’s legacy and work. He’s proposing renaming a major roadway in Henry’s honour.
