Denbigh High School secured the last spot to the round of 16 in the ISSA/WATA DaCosta Cup competition after beating Holmwood Tech 4-nil in the last set of games in the round of 32 on Thursday.
Denbigh started the day in third spot in group five with just a point, and needed a big win over Holmwood and a defeat by second place Belair to take the spot.
Belair who needed only a draw to advance, crashed 5-1 at home to Happy Grove who had already qualified.
Denbigh and Belair ended on four points each but Denbigh has a superior goal difference of plus three to Belair’s minus two.
Meanwhile in the Digicel Manning Cup Excelsior High received three points and a 3-nil victory margin over Ascot who forfieted the game while Jonathan Grant took second spot in zone B after beating Gaynstead 3-1.
