Do not oppose Pack Plays on Monday

MOUTTET Mile hopeful, United States invader PACK PLAYS, who destroyed overnight-allowance runners when debuting locally at six and a half furlongs, takes his show on the route course, nine furlongs and 25 yards, among open-allowance company on Monday.

A three-year-old sprinter, PACK PLAYS demolished MONEY MONSTER a month ago, clocking a smart 1:17.3, an unmolested 10-length win, marking his first attempt beyond five and a half furlongs after eight starts abroad.

Campaigning as a two-year-old last year, PACK PLAYS won a five-furlong maiden-claiming event at Monmouth Park in July before moving tack to Delaware Park where he placed third in back-to-back allowance and restricted races at five and a half furlongs.

On moving to Gulfstream Park in December, PACK PLAYS was again third in restricted company, rounding out his two-year-old season with a Horse Racing Nation speed rating of 87 in a five-furlong event won in 56.3.

By February, it was off to the claiming ranks where PACK PLAYS started three-year-old life at Gulfstream with a win at five and a half furlongs in 1:03.2 on the synthetic track, followed by a second-place run among restricted company in March.

PACK PLAYS’ only finish outside the top three in eight North American starts was at five and a half furlongs in April among optional claimers, after which he finished second and third at the level in May and June, respectively, ending his Gulfstream Park career.

Exactly three months to the day of his last race at Gulfstream Park, a five furlong won in 56.4, PACK PLAYS carried his devastating speed over six and a half furlongs to annihilate MONEY MONSTER. Third-place PERFECT BREW returned with blinkers fitted to frank the form with a flying finish, nailing MONEY MARKET at the wire in the Vassell ‘Jolly Man’ Najair Memorial at five and a half furlongs.

Though two seconds shy of Eros’ track record of 1:15.3, PACK PLAYS’ electrifying 1:17.3 was the fastest recorded at Caymanas Park in a long while. The Stay Thirsty-Standard Deal colt clocked 1:27.4 at seven furlongs last Saturday morning, signalling that even his exercise gallops are out-of-class.

No runner in the line-up dare try follow PACK PLAYS splits if they intend to earn a share of the purse. Canadian ATLANTIC CONVOY, recently schooled in back-to-back races by MAJOR DANGER and FUNCAANDUN, has bullied mainly local-breds in his five wins.

RHYTHM BUZZ, with whom PACK PLAYS shares Vincent Maine as owner, could be the exacta horse, looking sharp at exercise for his return from a three-month break. RHYTHM BUZZ, a son of 2016 Gold Cup winner, BUZZ NIGHTMARE, posted 1:28.0 at exercise the morning after PACK PLAYS’ 1:27.4.
