A prominent member of the Jamaican diaspora, Dr. Clovis Nelson, has confirmed that he’s throwing his hat into the political ring.
He is vying to represent the Jamaica Labour Party in North West Clarendon at the next general election.
Dr. Nelson says his deep roots and contributions to the constituency will further boost his ability to address issues plaguing the people of North West Clarendon.
Dr. Nelson’s application comes as incumbent MP, Phillip Henriques, announced that he’s not seeking re-election.
Former Senator, Warren Newby, and attorney-at-law, Corey Dunkley, have also applied to represent the JLP in the constituency.
Both men have reportedly been receiving support from different members in the party.
But Dr. Nelson says he’s not too concerned about the fanfare surrounding them.
And Dr. Nelson has also responded to concerns about his place of residence.
He says he spends the majority of his time in Jamaica.
