This, amid whispers she was unpopular among labourites in the constituency and that the party intended to replace her ahead of the next general election.
The JLP recently sounded out its supporters across four divisions in the constituency; Dalvey, Morant Bay, Port Morant and Bath.

In Dalvey, 61 people said yes, 24 said no. In Morant Bay, 119 said yes, 18 said no. In Port Morant, 55 said yes, 24 said no. And in Bath, 40 said yes, two said no.
Overall Dr. Charles, a first term MP, received 275 yes votes against 68 no votes.
She says she’s grateful for the endorsement from constituents.
