Farquharson says He’s Not Injured But Removed from Olympics Team

Former Calabar High School standout, Kimar Farquharson, has dismissed reports that he was removed from Jamaica’s team to the Paris Olympics because of an injury.

Farquharson was selected as a reserved for the mixed open 4-by-400-metres relay.

He competed at the national trials and he was a part of the six member team that competed at the New Life Invitational in the Bahamas in a bid to secure a spot for the men’s mile relay team to the Paris Olympics.

Farquharson, who competes for Texas A&M, says there’s no truth to claims that he is injured.

He says competing at the Olympics changes the marketability of an athlete. Farquharson believes he was robbed of an opportunity to showcase his latent on the biggest stage in sport.

Anthony Cox of Chase Athletics who finished sixth in 46.20 seconds at the National Championships last month, has been brought in as replacement.

Farquharson says communication skills at the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association needs improving.
