AS A long-standing member of the National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO), Palace Amusement joins NATO in congratulating film-maker Sean Baker and his production team behind Anora for making history at the Academy Awards 2025. Baker, who served as the writer, director, and editor of the film, has been a steadfast champion for the theatrical experience. His indie film garnered him four Oscars, setting a record for the most Oscars won by a single individual for one film.
Baker thanked his mother for introducing him to moviegoing at age five and said: “We are all here tonight because we love movies. Where did we fall in love with movies? At the movie theatre … . In a time in which our world can feel very divided, this is more important than ever: It’s a communal experience you simply don’t get at home….
“Film-makers keep making films for the big screen, I know I will...distributors, please focus first and foremost on the theatrical releases of your films … parents, introduce your children to feature films in movie theatres and you will be mouzlding the next generation of movie lovers and film-makers. And for all of us, when we can, please watch movies in a theatre, and let’s keep the great tradition of the moviegoing experience alive and well.”
THANKS FOR MAKING IT THE MOVIES!
We at Palace Amusement are heartened by the loyalty of our patrons and we thank you for the continued support. Check our listings of early matinees for today and Saturday. See you at the movies!
