Five St. Kitts and Nevis women awarded Medal of Honor

Five women are among the St. Kitts and Nevis Medal of Honor recipients for their contributions to the community. The St Kitts and Nevis’ government has honoured over ten islanders for their contributions to the country’s development.

  1. Patricia Richards-Leader was honored for her pioneering role in the business community, making notable strides in entrepreneurship and inspiring future generations.
  2. Viola Manning received the award for her outstanding contributions to nursing, having played a key role in the advancement of healthcare in St. Kitts and Nevis over the years.
  3. Allison Rouse, recognized for her dedication to law enforcement, has shown unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the nation.
  4. Orvis Mills was awarded for her lifelong dedication to early childhood education and his impactful community activism, helping shape the lives of young citizens and advocating for social progress.
  5. Jasmin “Jazzy D” Clarke-Thomas was celebrated for her work in broadcasting, where she has been a pioneering voice in local media, contributing to the development of the nation’s communication landscape.

The Companion of the Star of Merit will be awarded to Elsie Liburd-Brandy for her contributions to education, Rupert Herbert for his work in education and public service, Rosalyn Hazelle for women’s empowerment, Conard Kelly for his contributions to agriculture, Oliver Spencer for his impact on the fishing industry, David Huggins for his achievements in business entrepreneurship, Desmond Hobson-Tyson for community service and activism, Edrice Lewis-Viechweg for her contributions to education, Hanzel Manners for his role in banking and community development, and Orville ‘Sailor’ Thompson for his contributions to sports.

The National Honors Act established three distinct merit-based awards: the Medal of Honor, the Companion of the Star of Merit, and the Order of National Hero.
