Former PNP MP Errol ‘Jiggs’ Ennis Has Died

Former PNP Member of Parliament Errol ‘Jiggs’ Ennis has died.

Mr. Ennis, who served as MP for Western Portland from 1989 to 2007, passed away at his home in Hope Bay, Portland, late Thursday morning.

He was 83.

He had been ailing for several years and had lost his sight.

Mr. Ennis served as a State Minister in the Ministry of Finance and as a Junior Minister in the Ministry of Agriculture during the PJ Patterson administration.

Beyond his political career, Mr Ennis was a Vice President of the Jamaica Development Bank and served in the Royal Air Force.

He was a trained economist, a farmer, and an athlete, representing his alma mater, Kingston College, in football and athletics.

Reacting to news of his passing, the Union of Technical Administrative & Supervisory Personnel said Mr Ennis leaves a legacy of dedicated public service, leadership, and contribution to national development.

The union calls him a true servant leader who will be remembered as a patriot deeply committed to the progress of Jamaica and the upliftment of its people.

Mr. Ennis is survived by his wife Sandra and 5 adult children.

Meanwhile, the PNP has expressed heartfelt condolences to Mr. Ennis’s loved ones, friends, and colleagues.

In its tribute, the PNP says his contributions to Jamaica’s development be remembered for years to come.

Current MP for West Portland, Daryl Vaz, has also extended condolences to the family of Errol Ennis.

Writing on X, Mr. Vaz described Ennis as a person with whom he shared a strong friendship despite their opposing views on politics.
