Sprint star Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce and Yona Knight Wisdom who’ll be attending their last Olympic Games, have been named co-captains of Jamaica’s team to the games of the 33rd Olympiad in Paris.
The announcement was made today by the Jamaica Olympic Association at a media briefing held at their headquarters in Kingston.
Fraser Pryce has qualified for her fifth Olympic Games while Diver Knight Wisdom will be attending his third.
Meanwhile Triple Jump star Shanieka Rickettes and Swimmer Josh Kirlew will carry the Jamaica Flag at the opening ceremony next Friday.
JOA President Chris Samuda says he’s confident the four individuals selected, are deserved of the special roles.
Samuda says it was important they take the unusual step of naming the captains and the flag/bearers well ahead of the games.
Meanwhile the most of the JOA management team is already in Paris preparing to receive the athletes when they arrive next week and Samuda says things are progressing smoothly.

The JOA will also celebrate the reallocation of medals to Bev McDonald, Kaliese Spencer Carter and Chelsea Hammond Ross with a special function on August 9, the day they will be presented with their medals.
Celebrations are also planned for Jamaica’s Independence day August 6 and JOA Day on August 7.
