Frazsiers Whip back in action despite disruptions

Courtney Dowdie, head coach of Frazsiers Whip, said despite disruptions to the team’s training sessions due to the final of the schoolgirl football competition, his players are ready to return to Jamaica Women’s Premier League (JWPL) action.

Frazsiers Whip will host Real MoBay AFC today at the Royale Lakes Sports Complex with kickoff set fro 3:30 p.m.

The defending champions are returning to action after their rest week last weekend.

Dowdie explained that despite the break, several of his players were in schoolgirl football action during the week which caused some disruptions to the team’s preparations.

These players include Destiny Powell, Cassandra Smith and Shauntai Pryce who all turned out for Excelsior High in their 1-0 won over Holmwood Technical at Stadium East on Wednesday.

“The rest week has been good but it also had some bad. Some of the girls would have had the schoolgirls’ semifinals and final,” he said in a pre-match interview.

“With them in training, we had to be careful of the load that we put on them because the schoolgirls’ final was played Wednesday and then to be back in action so soon, we had to be careful how we structured our training around that.”

Despite the disruptions however, Dowdie said the players are ready to return to the ranks and defend the team’s perfect record in the league.

SECOND PLACE

Frazsiers Whip currently sit second in the standings on a maximum 18 points from six games played.

They trail league leaders Cavalier who sit atop on 19, having played seven games this season.

“The girls are ready and it is for us to come and bring our A game once again,” he explained.

“The first place spot is definitely where we want to be. We have been playing well this season and we’re the only team so far to not drop any points. The girls are motivated because we have Cavalier and Arnett still to play.”

Also in action are Cavalier who will look to maintain their top spot when they travel to Carder Park in Portland to take on Wifi United.

Arnett will also travel to the Spanish Town Prison Oval this weekend, as they face off against Federal United, the only team yet to register a win.

At Brooks Park in Manchester, Los Perfectos will host UWI Women who are looking to recover from their narrow 1-0 defeat last week to Proven Girls.

All games are set to kick off at 3:30 p.m.
