The young professional affiliate of the Jamaica Labour Party, G2K, says the Mayor of Kingston, Andrew Swaby, has failed his first major test as leader of the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation, KSAMC.
G2K says the KSAMC’s response to the mounds of garbage left behind by revelers attending Sunday’s road march is inadequate.
According to G2K, this is a significant failure on the mayor’s part and is a possible indicator about the remainder of his tenure.
The group says Carnival Sunday provided Mayor Swaby with the opportunity to demonstrate his commitment to effective urban management and cleanliness.
G2K says the debris laden streets of Kingston in the aftermath of carnival are a visual reminder of Mayor Swaby’s unmet promises.
