The young professional affiliate of the Jamaica Labour Party, JLP, Generation 2000, G2K, says it’s concerned by news that an alleged political activist photographed with People’s National Party, PNP caretaker for Central Westmoreland, Dwayne Vaz, is a suspect in connection with the daring attempted heist on a Beryllium truck in Negril last Friday.
Four gunmen were killed during the incident.
In a statement on Monday, G2K said they are advised that an alleged gunman who survived the incident and is in custody worked as a polling division liaison officer for the PNP in the recent local government election.
G2K says it invites the PNP and Mr. Vaz to indicate whether they are aware that the alleged gunman is one of their political workers.
G2k says it’s of the view that given the circumstances which have prevailed, Vaz should be immediately withdrawn as PNP caretaker for Central Westmoreland.
The police have confirmed that the man seen in a photograph with Dwayne Vaz, which has gone viral on social media, is a suspect in last Friday’s deadly confrontation in Negril.
The man, is suspected to be a lookout driver for the five men killed by the police moments before they were reportedly set to rob a Beryllium armoured vehicle transporting several million dollars in cash.
