Opposition Leader, Mark Golding, is also congratulating Rojé Stona for his gold medal win in the men’s discus, with a record-breaking throw of 70 meters.
Stona accomplished the winning feat at the Paris Olympics on Wednesday.
Mr Golding says the achievement is a significant milestone in Jamaica’s athletic history, which has brought immense pride to the nation.
Mr Golding also says the achievement is an example of Jamaica’s prowess across several categories of athletic events, and used the opportunity to call for consistent corporate sponsorship of field events.
The Opposition leader says it is crucial to build on the success, particularly because the field events have so far been Jamaica’s saving grace at the Paris Olympics.
Mr Golding also congratulates the entire Jamaica Olympics team in Paris, saying it continues to inspire and uplift the spirits of all Jamaica.
