Opposition leader, Mark Golding, is criticising the government for its delay in announcing who the next finance minister will be.
He was speaking in Browns Town, St. Ann on Sunday, where the party presented Gabriela Morris as its standard-bearer for North West St Ann in the upcoming general election.
Finance Minister Dr Nigel Clarke will be stepping down in two days to take on his role as deputy managing director of the International Monetary Fund. The appointment takes effect on October 31.
Golding says the announcement of a successor is long overdue.
Golding says Prime Minister Andrew Holness, cannot assume this role because he is being investigated by agencies under the Ministry of Finance.
