Opposition Leader, Mark Golding, has defended the People’s National Party’s, PNP, decision to replace Lawrence Rowe with former senior superintendent of police, Steve McGregor, as the party’s caretaker in Central Kingston.
Golding presented McGregor to comrades in Central Kingston on Wednesday evening, telling them he believes in Steve.
Rowe was unceremoniously ousted as caretaker on Sunday.
He says in exchange for him accepting the decision without fuss, Mark Golding promised to appoint him as a government senator, name him to the board of a housing agency and give him $15 million in resources.
The PNP responded, saying the claim about monetary offers is spurious. But Rowe says he has hard evidence to support his claim.
The ‘PNP Hush Money Scandal’ has sparked widespread debate about the integrity of the leadership of the opposition.
Golding told comrades in Central Kingston that a real man is now in place at the helm of the constituency.
