Finance minister, Dr. Nigel Clarke, says the government has entered into a framework agreement with Tavistock Group for the development of Harmony Cove as a major integrated resort in Trelawny.
The ocean-front development will consist of hotel rooms, a casino, golf courses, luxury spa, commercial developments, private residencies and other amenities.
Dr. Clarke says the large-scale investment by Harmony Cove Limited is expected to be a transformative project for the hospitality sector in Jamaica.
The development project, which will be situated on 2,300 acres, was conceptualised over 20 years ago under the Patterson administration.
The project was initially slated to begin in 2009, but was impacted by a global financial crisis in 2008.
Dr. Clarke says the agreement now includes a defined timeline with development milestones.
