Gov’t Reaches Agreement With Public Sector Workers on Overtime Pay

The government has settled negotiations on overtime and other key issues dealing with public sector compensation.

Finance Minister, Dr. Nigel Clarke says circulars outlining the terms of the new arrangements will be dispatched shortly.

Dr. Clarke says the new policy will resolve the inequities of overtime versus duty allowance and create a unified framework under the new heading extra work.

The minister was speaking at the annual general meeting of the Jamaica Civil Service Association on Thursday.

The finance minister says other concerns raised by workers in the public sector will soon be addressed.
