Grenada’s new policy extending the compulsory school age to 18 officially took effect on September 1, 2024.

This change, introduced through the Education Amendment Bill, raises the previous mandatory school age range from 5 to 16 years.

According to information from the Government Information Service (GIS), several key initiatives have been launched to support this transition. These include enhanced training programs for TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) teachers, upgrades to centers of excellence, the introduction of a Free Tuition program, and new strategies to improve educational access.
