Authorities in the Bahamas are conducting a search for Haitian rapper Mechanste Wens Jonathan Desir, 32, known by his stage name MechansT, who is believed to be lost at sea.

The Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) in Abaco received unconfirmed reports about the missing artist on Tuesday, July 16, prompting an immediate investigation.

But RBPF says at present there are no official records of Desir entering or leaving the country.

According to the Haitian Times, Desir traveled to Great Abaco for a concert on May 18. He was accompanied by his older brother, Steeven Desir, who left the Bahamas on May 24 after the concert, while MechansT chose to extend his stay. Despite being in different countries, the brothers maintained daily contact until July 4, when communications with the rapper ceased.

The Abaco police are actively investigating Desir’s disappearance and are appealing to the public for any information that might assist in locating him. Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact the RBPF.
