Former national senior football team head coach, Heimir Hallgrímsson, says he was sold on the Irish national football job because the federation is professional and treated him with respect.
Hallgrímsson has been handed the responsibility of taking the Irish to the World Cup finals in 2026, replacing Stephen Kenny.
The Icelander says he’s now in a good place.
Hallgrímsson, who was in charge of the Jamaica national team over just over two years, says he was approached earlier this year but told his new employers that he could not discuss until after the Copa America.
