Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness says the opposition People’s National Party’s proposal to give people under 35-years-old a $500,000 housing deposit grant lacks thought.
The opposition says $1 billion would be set aside to fund the initiative.
According to the prime minister, he had a conversation recently with a young Jamaican who questioned the proposal.
Dr. Holness says any solution to address housing in Jamaican must also focus on increasing the supply of units across the country.
This, in a bid to keep the prices of housing stable.
