Goods imported to the island from July 4 through to August 23, for use in relief and rehabilitation projects linked to Hurricane Beryl will be exempt from customs duties and General Consumption Tax, GCT.
That’s the word from the Ministry of Finance and Planning.
In a statement on Wednesday afternoon, Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke says he has granted approval for goods to be exempt from duties and taxes, once the Commissioner of Customs is satisfied they are to be used in the post hurricane relief effort.
The relief is being granted in accordance with the second schedule of the Customs Tariff and in compliance with Section 47 of the GCT Act.
