India produced a clinical all-round display to beat defending champions England by 68 runs in the second semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup at Providence in Guyana today.
This is India’s third trip to the final but their first in ten years and they travel to Bridgetown Barbados tomorrow looking for a second title when they face South Africa in the final at Kensington Oval on Saturday.
After a rain delay India were asked to bat and posted 171 for 7 in their 20 overs with captain Rohit Sharma slamming 57, Suriyakumar Yadav 47 and Hardik Pandya 23, Chris Jordan claimed 3 for 37.
In reply England struggled to live with India’s impressive bowling attack and crumbled for 103 in 16.4 overs with Harry Brook 25, Jos Buttler 23 and Jofra Archer 21 making most runs.
Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel both got three wickets while Jasprit Bumrah bagged two.
India now has the distinction of reaching the final of all ICC global tournaments in one calendar year after making it to the final of the Test Championship and the Limited Overs competition.
